Continue the Conversation Questions

You’ve heard the message. Now what?

If you haven’t checked out Cross Point’s Continue the Conversation questions—hot off the press every Saturday—don’t miss out on this awesome, easy-to-use resource!

How many times do we walk out of the church doors thinking “Wow, that message was exactly what I needed to hear today!” … but then never do anything about it?

That’s why Cross Point never gauges success by how many people are lined up in rows on Sunday morning, but how many people are circled up in homes learning what true community is about. That’s where the real life change takes place.

Continue the Conversation questions are one of our small group leaders’ favorite ways to help people dig deeper.

Here’s why:

-Easy Prep: Being a group leader takes plenty of time and energy! One of the great things about these questions is that they don’t require much pre-planning on your part at all—leaving you more time to focus on connecting with your group. All you do is print out the question list, and then let the conversation take off! Because the questions are posted online by Saturday, you can even bring them along with you to church. They make a great personal devotion!

-No One Gets Behind: We all know that no matter how convenient the time and location of your group are, not everyone is going to make it every week. It’s easy for people to fall into the mentality of:  “We’ve already missed a lesson, so let’s just skip again,” especially during long studies. But no one falls off the wagon with these weekly questions since they don’t build on each other. In fact, they’re powerful even for people who had to miss church that week! (Of course, it’s ideal for them to watch or listen to it online. But basically, there’s less of an excuse for people to skip!)

-No Homework Required: Books always sound like a good idea, don’t they? But the reality is that most people don’t do the reading—at least not consistently. No need to take on the stress of trying to keep people on track. With these questions, all people need to bring to group is themselves!

-Great for Between Studies: If you’re using some of the awesome video series available through Cross Point’s resource center, that’s great! After 6 to 10 weeks, you may not want to jump right into another long study. These questions are an easy way to chance things up while you decide what you want to do next!

-Breaking the Ice: These questions follow a particular format every week to engage group members and provide an atmosphere of openness. You’ll start with a fun icebreaker question to help everyone get to know each other better. (Don’t skip this one! It’s a good opportunity to laugh, and even groups that have been together a long time learn new things about each other.) Then, you’ll get to the meat of the message, a personal challenge and an opportunity to pray for each other.

You may be wondering where these discussion questions come from. They’re actually written by professional writers from our very own congregation. Each week, one of them studies the pastor’s sermon outline and looks for the best ways to help groups dig deeper. They have a heart for helping you serve your group!

We hope you’ll consider trying them out as you kick off your group this fall!
